Water Repellency Test

The accelerated weathering test simulates the degradation of materials in the field where ultraviolet radiation, temperature and moisture affecting on it.

A test which no other coatings have shown.

The Accelerated Weathering Test shows the durability of the coating. SENSHA Crystal Glow Coatings are tested under the harsh accelerated environments to ensure that this products are at the best performance. With 1500 hours of worst weather condition, the coating shows that it is able to last as indicated with 8-Years Crystal Glow being the most hydrophobic and durable.

 

MEASUREMENT CONDITIONS

Measurement method: JIS K 7350-2-1995

Measurement: Contact angle (degree)

Sample surface radiation: 390w/m²(300-700nm)

Discharge power: 4.5kW(±2%)

Black Panel temperature: 63 ± 2°C

Water jet condition: 12 min/hour

Contact angle higher than 90° means that the property of coating is water repellency.

Contact angle less than 90° means that the property of coating is hydrophilicity.

The Results:

Crystal Glow 1-Year Coating is hydrophilic.

Crystal Glow 3-Year Coating is water repellant.

Crystal Glow 5-Year Coating is water repellant.

Crystal Glow 8-Year Coating is water repellant.

Sustainability period of contact angle is dependent on the serviced life of each Crystal Glow.

ADHERENCE

The test method is X-cut and Tape Test. Pressure-sensitive tape is applied and removed over cuts made on the coating. It is used to determine how well the coating bonds to the substrate. After the test, the result is recorded if the bond failure was adhesive(failure at the coating/substrate level) with 5 levels, from 0 (successful bond) to 5(peels off completely).

Results show that Crystal Glow fulfils their fiunction of protecting the substrate with strong adherence to the painted surface.
